50 Cent and G Unit | The Soundtrack to your Life

50 Cent and G Unit

50 Cent and G Unit

The highest point of my EWest Music career so far, was when I got the news I would be interviewing 50 Cent. At the time, most people my age knew who he was, but if you weren’t “Up in Da Club” scene or a fan of Eminem, you may not have heard of him. It was hard to believe I was going to be in his presence! The things he has seen, the things he has done, like being shot at and struck multiple times!

What made this interview even more intense, was that 50 Cent wasn’t coming alone. He brought with him Lloyd Banks and Young Buck from G Unit, a group he started under his own record label. They also came with a few large bodyguards and more bling than I will ever see in one room again! After seeing some of his videos, and doing some pre-interview research, I started to think, maybe I should have brought my own bodyguards!!!

One of the first things I remember asking him was “What do you prefer to be called? Fiddy, Curtis, Fifty Cent?” His reply, “You can call me whatever you like, baby.” Okay, Mr. P.I.M.P. it is!!!

I was very surprised at how “normal” they all were. And even more so at how soft spoken 50 Cent was. He had a great smile and it was easy to tell why the ladies fall for him! It was a real eye opener for me that no matter what walk of life you come from, or the things you may have been exposed to growing up, we are all human when we sit down and talk to one another.

Looking back now at the 50 Cent and G Unit segment in our vintage vault, everyone at EWest Music feels that we need to make an extended version. Only a small piece of the interview was aired and there is a lot more footage to share. So keep checking back for the extended version as well as more episodes being released in our vintage vault on Throw Back Thursdays, starting soon!

Music has always been such a big part of my life. It's one of those things that is always there for you, no matter what your mood may be. When I was about 3, my dad played air guitar and my brother played drums as I belted out Cindy Lauper. I have always had a very eclectic taste in music. In elementary school, I think I was the only kid that really liked songs of the 50's, Duke of Earl, Peggy Sue. Music definitely touches me deep in my soul. It has been there for me in my darkest of days and also brought me lots of happiness in the best of times!
